Côte-Rôtie sits on the western bank of the Rhône, its name literally translating to "the roasted hillside" in reference to its sun-drenched slopes. This region is home to two famously steep hillsides: Côte Brune and Côte Blonde. The Côte Brune, the larger and more northern of the two, has soils rich in clay and iron, producing darker, more tannic, and deeply structured wines—some of the longest-lived in the Rhône. In contrast, wines from the Côte Blonde are more perfumed, fragrant, and approachable in their youth, with a softer tannin profile. Both hillsides boast exceptional vineyards and lieux-dits. On the Côte Blonde, one of the most celebrated sites is La Mouline. Meanwhile, the Côte Brune is home to renowned vineyards such as La Viaillère, La Landonne, La Turque, and Jasmin’s La Chevalière—all considered among the best.
For this special evening, we will spotlight five of Côte-Rôtie’s most revered growers: Guigal, Jasmin, Jamet, Dervieux-Thaize, and Gilles Barge. If you are a lover of Northern Rhône wines, this is an opportunity you won’t want to miss—a fun and informative deep dive into one of the world’s most captivating wine regions.
